Optical cables

Optical cables - TOSLINK (officially EIAJ optical) - an interface standard to transmit a digital audio signal S / PDIF by means of an optical cable. Used in audio equipment, computers, consoles and mobile devices. Transmits digital datas of Fast Ethernet and FireWire.

The transmission runs through an optic fibre of 1 mm diameter by using red light impulses. The maximal current version capacity equals 25 Mbps for audio and 125 Mbps for Fast Ethernet and FireWire. In contrast to the galvanic connections, the transmission by means of the optical clables ensures the resistance to electromagnetic interference.
